JEWELLERY CARE

Cherry jewellery is made with care and precision to ensure long-lasting quality. Like anything of value, it requires mindfulness and a bit of TLC to maximise its longevity. Please read through our care guide below:

When In Use

When in use, please be sure to keep you jewellery safe and protected from potential harm. We recommend that you safely store your pieces when participating in damage risk activities such as:

  • Sporting Activities
  • Beach and Swimming Activities
  • Gym
  • Housework
  • Gardenwork
  • DIY
  • Any other activities that require strenuous handwork or potentially harmful liquids getting in contact with your jewellery.

Please bear in mind that some precious metals, like Gold, are soft and at risk of bending out of shape when put under strain. Precious stones, such as diamonds, are incredibly hard but when under extreme pressure they can be damaged.

When Being Stored

When your jewellery is not in use, please be sure to store them separately from each other to avoid scratches and damages. Your Cherry box or jewellery bag will be perfect. Keep them in a safe place for security reasons.

Cleaning Your Jewellery

We recommend you keep your jewellery clean and follow the cleaning guide below:

  • For a quick and light servicing – Gently but thoroughly wipe down with a soft lint-free cloth. Do not use course materials as these could result in scratches.
  • For a deeper clean – Soak for 5 minutes in warm water with a small mix of dish washing liquid. Using a soft toothbrush gently brush away any dirt that has collected. Be careful not to push too hard and risk dislodging any stones. Dry with a soft lint-free cloth.
  • If you are not comfortable with the above or are worried that you may have a loose stone, contact Cherry or visit one of our stores for further assistance.

Ongoing Care

Platinum, Yellow Gold and Red Gold benefit from an annual, professional polish to keep it at its best and ensure all stones are securely in place. White Gold is Rhodium plated and will require a fresh plating as it wears. Please contact the Cherry team or visit one of our stores to find out more.

Diamonds

Diamonds may be the hardest substance known to man, but that is not immune to damage. While they cannot be scratched, they are vulnerable to chipping and in rare cases, shattering.

Yellow/Red Gold

In its purest form, Gold is extremely malleable in terms of metals. The higher carats the more care required to keep it in its best condition. Other metals are added to strength Gold, which is what reduces the carats.

White Gold

Gold is naturally yellow and requires additional metals to give it the signature white colour. To help give White Gold the final push to its finished colour, electroplating with Rhodium is applied. Depending on the frequency of wearing, it is recommended that have your piece plated on an annual basis to maintain its eye-catching shine.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is 92.5% pure and is also a soft metal at risk of becoming misshaped. Silver also oxidizes resulting in tarnishing when exposed to certain chemicals.

Platinum

Platinum is an incredibly hard metal and high in purity at 95%. While it is a hard metal, it is not immune to scratches and will retain its scratches which will lead to dulling over time. A quick polish and periodic emery polish for those stubborn scratches and it will be back to its illuminating shine which attracts its buyers.
